Welcome to the Sideways through Time blog! This has been put together as part of my course in Library and Information studies.

AH is "a story that changes real world history and explores the consequences of that change."

These stories usually contain "what if" scenarios at crucial points in history and present outcomes other than those in the historical record. The stories are conjectural but are sometimes based on fact. Alternate history in the past, has been seen as a subgenre of literary fiction, historical fiction and science fiction  - however alternate history works may use tropes from any or all of these genres. A major theme in many 20th century AH works is time travel and its consequences.

If you are fascinated by history like me, and enjoy science fiction, fantasy, or thrilling stories please read our reviews , borrow the books or attend one of our special events!
